MAI 2011: 24H FINALE LIGURE
Team Supernova wins 2nd place in legendary 24-hour race
„buongiorno Finale, good morning Finale…it´s FUN, it´s HARD, it´s CRAZY… it´s the 24h of FINALE!!!”
Saturday, 7 a.m.. A clear, loud voice cuts the silence of the ligurian coastal mountains that had set in only 5 hours earlier.
The www.Supernova-Lights.com 4-man team consisting of Julian Schwendemann, Martin and Stefan Siefermann and Sönke Wegner dove into the adventure of the 24 hours of Finale Ligure, 60 kilometres sout of Genua.
1 p.m.: After the 500m le-mans start on the beach of Varigotti, the riders start the race on a 25% slope 300 Hm uphill. Martin has a good start and enters the race circuit 2nd place. Then, fate struck and he had an unfixable flat tire. The next rider, Stefan, went on the track after getting the go by the track attendants. unfortunately, this mishap not only cost the team a lot of time, but a penalty of one round (approx. 40 minutes) was also inflicted upon the team.
In spite of this, the team continued on and due to the good team spirit the distance to the first teams was reduced round by round.
8 p.m. - nightfall: "Thanks to Marcus Wallmeyer from Supernova we were able to break the darkness. The lamps were so bright , that we had perfect visiblity. Our lap times at night were as fast as in the day.", tells Sönke Wegner enthusiastically.
Racing every round at the limit, body and material were abused mercilessly. Altered eating and sleeping behaviour got the last reserves.
During the night, the team managed to advance to 3rd place. With only seconds behind the second team and 6 Minutes to the first it was clear: everything was possible once again, victory was within their grasp.
Then, misfortune struck once again. In 24hours the team had gained 5 flat tires and lost 4 spokes. Still, they managed to overtake the second ranked team in the last lap and finished after 444 kilometres only two minutes behind the winners of the "Swiss Longdistance Racers".
The story will be continued. Next year.

Seven days later, the epic drew to a close under sunny skies with the spectacular peaks of Canmore as a backdrop. OCTOBER 2009: DESIGN AWARD FOR E3 TRIPLE AND E3 TAIL LIGHT
Focus Open award-winners Baden-Württemberg International Design Award 2009
Over recent years, the Baden-Württemberg International Design Award has made a name for itself as a “focus” competition. Its unique concept of focusing on a specific issue – Focus Green in 2008, for example, or Focus Safety in 2007 – has confronted manufacturers and designs with special challenges to their current design trends and development tasks. To mark the tenth anniversary of this design award, the Design Center Stuttgart called for entries for “Focus Open”: for the first time, the competition was not related to any specific theme.
The award’s excellent reputation is reflected in the very high number of participants: 438 entries were received. Products were submitted from Europe, Asia and the United States. At the same time, this response is also an indication of the growing importance of professional design in companies. In participating in the competition, business and industry affirm that they exploit the value-added of design awards in their marketing communication – especially when the economy is going through a difficult period.
Categories
When registering their products, contestants could choose from 15 categories, which suitably reflected the diversity of today’s product worlds:
Production, assembly, logistics │Medicine, rehabilitation, geriatrics │ Bathrooms, sanitary installations, wellness │ Kitchens, household │ Tableware and kitchenware │Living │Family │Leisure, outdoor activities │ Sport │Communication, audio/video, optical equipment │Lighting │ Contract furniture │ Architecture, public design │ Energy and installations technology │ Transport, traffic.
Judging and awards
In a judging process lasting two days, which as usual took place without any pre-selection, the six judges assessed the original products according to solely classic design criteria, including design quality, functionality, innovative content, ergonomics / interface, product graphics, ecology, quality, emotional content and brand conformity.
The judges were:
• Silke Claus, Strategic Consultant, Germany
• Stefan Diez, Stefan Diez Office, Germany
• Michael Lanz, designaffairs, Germany
• Frederick Rickmann, DN Asp, Denmark
• Nicola Stattmann, Büro Nicola Stattmann, Germany
• Alex Terzariol, MM Design, Italy
Objective, respectable, non-commercial
Every year, the Focus competitions are characterized by a high level of objectivity and credibility. For example, almost all the entries for Focus Open were assessed in the original. Only a few especially bulky products and capital goods were presented as photographs. No products in which the judges were involved were allowed to be entered for the competition. Finally, the non-commercial competition’s favourable entry fees also allow smaller and younger companies to measure themselves and their products on an international level.
